Welcome one and all to Sweet Rare Reggae Music! A blog created to showcase hard to find, out of print or just down right unavailable reggae music that has become endangered due to failure to re-release, promote or for whatever reason somehow just got lost along the way.
We will collect here some of the rarest old vinyl, singles, albums, compilations, mix-tapes, live concerts, studio demo's / rehearsals, radio broadcasts, unreleased material and all other related tunes that we may come across and consider posting.
All articles will include an in-depth biography where possible, to help give some back-story and history to the music posted and also provide useful information on further listening for readers to check out for themselves.
We also have some excellent EXCLUSIVE Compilations, Deluxe Editions and Showcase albums that you won't find anywhere else!!
I would love to hear from like-minded reggae fans who feel they have something to share or contribute to this blog. Let me know if you have any material that could be considered "dying out", rare music that needs to be preserved for future reggae fans that is not easily available from your local stores or online at places such as iTunes/Amazon ect..

Although every effort will be made to track down the best quality versions of the material available there are times that due to age, vinyl, cassette, radio airplay or other reasons, the sound may be impaired in some way. Hopefully this won't come up too often but when it does we hope the end results are the best we can possibly make them.

few places on the internet where I can find some really rare music, and yours is a reference.
I dunno if you've heard of this website, playlistunes, but for the listening of cool stuff it's pretty fu**ing cool, I think you should have a look.

man....i'm loving this blog...so many gems, you're def providing a service with so many great reggae records going out of print so often...its quite a shame really. I would suggest posting if its possible the original Jamaican pressing of Burning Spear's Marcus Garvey and possibly the Meditation's Message from the Meditations, both are extremely hard to find

ReplyDeleteTwo great suggestions there, I have a feeling The Meditations album is in our collection. We were intending to release an album of Meditations Black Ark material but the album "Message From.." is, like you say, particularly hard to get. Check back soon.
